About the Author:Rasipuram Krishnaswami Iyer Narayanswami is the full name of R. K. Narayan. He was born in 1906 and died in 2001. He is one of the best known novelists among Indian English writers. He has written 14 novels, five volumes of short stories and a number of travelogues. He has created the imaginary town, Malgudi. He has received ‘The Sahitya Akademi Award’ in 1961 for his novel, ‘The Gide’.R. K. Narayan portrays the peculiarities of human relationships and the paradoxes of Indian daily life. His style is graceful marked by genial humor, elegance and simplicity.

About the Story:This story is about a man who runs away from his village without telling any member of his family and living in the present village by carrying a business of telling the future of the people. One day he is confronted with a truth that had once made him leaving his village. In the present story writer has used twist and it has resolved at the end of the story.
